BitDevs Athens is a community for those interested in discussing and participating in the research and development of Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related protocols. You can be well versed with or new to the topics, all are welcome. Be advised: discussion will be ***technical***.

This day's topic will be:
1) Taproot: is a Bitcoin protocol upgrade implemented via a soft fork to enhance Bitcoin's privacy, efficiency, and smart contract capabilities.
We will talk about:
- Address formats and descriptors
- Tagged hashing and key tweaking
- Equations derivation
- Spending options
- Witness stack and serialization
- Tapscript and the opcodes
Reading material:
- BIP 341 & BIP 342
- Taproot demonstration by BitMex
- Bitcoin Stack Exchange examples of P2TR transactions on Mainnet
- Spending coins with Taproot and some more examples
- Overview of the Taproot & Tapscript proposed BIPs
2) Review of technical Bitcoin news/topics. In every meetup we go through technical Bitcoin news. Our list will be available closer to the event on bitdevs-athens.com
