Social distancing is important for the health of our communities, and it’s now easier than ever before to host an online event on Meetup. Instead of choosing a venue when you schedule an event, you can now include a link to the video conferencing service of your choice.
Schedule your next event online to stay in touch with your community at a time when human connection is needed most.
Please read our updated in-person events policy.
How to schedule an online event
We recommend scheduling your online events at least 24 hours in advance and including an extra 15 minutes at the beginning of your event for members to install any necessary software and join by video.
Check out the Help Center for the full written instructions.
Tips for using video conferencing services
We hope our communities can get back together in person soon, but in the meantime we strongly recommend that you host your events online with one of the many video conferencing solutions available.
- Learn how to manage your participants on Zoom.
- Start a group conversation using Google Hangouts.
- Set up a video space using Meet Now on Skype.
Meetup communities are innovative when it comes to staying connected. Organization, communication, and planning are core pieces of in-person events and these same skills also apply to online events.
Thank you to all of the organizers and members who have hosted and joined online events so far. We’re excited to see even more online connections taking place on Meetup over the coming weeks.
Last week, we previewed this feature in Product Updates for Online Events (Part 1).
