Tune in for a conversation with Eve Rodsky, Author of Find Your Unicorn Space: Reclaim Your Creative Life in a Too-Busy World. Eve will share lessons on leading a more purposeful life and finding fulfillment. In addition to learning how to unlock your creativity, you’ll learn the secret formula to making stronger friendships and new ways to approach happiness.

Main Takeaways:

  • There is a magic formula to finding this purpose. The “Three C’s”, we’ll go through each of them – our curiosity, which is the word I like way more than passion, connection, which is why we’re here with Meetup, and completion.

  • I’m not sure how we got on this sort of side hustle train, where every pursuit that we have has to be commodified or you have to make money from it, because we don’t.
And in fact, many of the things that we love to do and we should be doing, are things that do not have monetary value but have intrinsic value – that is probably the most priceless things you do for yourself.
  • Speaking to organizers specifically, you are in an active pursuit of what makes you, you.
Active pursuit does not mean we’re always winning. Failure is a big component of sharing yourself with the world and it can feel extremely scary, but again that’s the beauty of a Meetup group, that’s the beauty of connection, is those spiritual friends help you keep going.

Top Q&A Questions / Resources:

  • How do you suggest we respond to dream squashers?
    • There are a lot of them and that’s why I devoted a whole chapter to friendships. There are spiritual friends for you there. And again, that’s why I love Meetup.

Because if people are in that group, they’re not going to be dream squashes because they’re there for the same reason you are.

  • What advice do you have for people who feel disconnected or lost from curiosities? What if we feel like we don’t have any creativity?
    • You do, I promise you you do. But so many of us feel disconnected from our creativity because of two things. One, society doesn’t value it. And number two, it’s because we don’t have the time.

Just join a Meetup group, commit to it.
 Join a class.
I will say, sometimes it’s easier just to jump into a curiosity that may not be the one that you’re going to stay with forever.
