Is China Capitalist? - A One-on-One Debate w/ The Geopolitical Forum

Details

From The Geopolitical Forum:
Since 1978, China has undergone a remarkable transformation from a centrally planned, isolated economy to a global economic powerhouse. Not the least remarkable of which: China's economic development is credited with approximately 75% of the global reduction in the number of people living in extreme poverty since 1980. This equates to lifting nearly 800 million people out of extreme poverty, measured by the World Bank's international poverty line of $1.90 per day. For the economics-minded—is China capitalist as a result of the economic transformation? David Ramsay Steele and Eric Mao will debate this question, with David proposing the motion, "China is capitalist," and Eric opposing it.
