From The Geopolitical Forum:
As tensions mount around the world, the threat of nuclear war and the fear of its destruction have not been this intense since the Cold War. The new leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, has wasted no time calling for peace, continuing the Pope's role as a world leader for justice.

After the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, Pope John XXIII promulgated the papal encyclical "Pacem in terris (Peace on Earth)." A treatise on human rights, the encyclical declared that justice demands that nuclear disarmament be achieved among all nations. The first encyclical to be addressed to "to all Men of Good Will," Pope John's words quickly set the world on fire, becoming the first encyclical to be published in The New York Times. Justin Tucker will discuss this classic document and its impact on international relations.
