Old Rag Hike
Details
Join us on March 28 at 10:00 AM for a social hike at Old Rag Mountain. This is a full day commitment designed for those who enjoy a challenging scramble and high quality views.
The route will be an out and back via the Ridge Trail, meaning we will navigate the rock scramble both on the ascent and the descent. This provides a double dose of technical climbing and avoids the long walk back on the fire road. Expect a physically demanding day that requires focus and upper body strength.
Please meet at the Old Rag parking area. Due to the popularity of this trail, arriving early is still recommended to secure parking despite the later start. You must obtain an Old Rag Day Use Ticket in advance via Recreation.gov. These are required starting March 1 and often sell out. You will also need a standard park entrance pass.
A minimum of five participants is required for this event to proceed. Please RSVP by March 21. If the minimum is not met by that date, the hike will be removed from the calendar to ensure the social dynamic of the group.
This hike is strenuous. Bring at least two to three liters of water, plenty of food, and wear broken in hiking boots with good grip. Gloves are also recommended for protecting your hands during the scrambles.
