What we’re about

For those who joined the original version of this group, called "New to New Zealand", feel free to leave the group based on the significant changes below (or stay and join us in Raglan).

First, if you're not familiar with Blue Zones, watch this series on Netflix.

In summary, Blue Zones are regions of the world where people tend to live significantly longer, healthier lives than average. These areas share common lifestyle traits, including strong social connections, regular physical activity, plant-based diets, and a strong sense of purpose.

All the original Blue Zone locations (Okinawa (Japan), Sardinia (Italy), Ikaria (Greece), Nicoya Peninsula (Costa Rica), and Loma Linda (California, USA) came about naturally. In other words, the superior health and longevity of the individuals of these communities were not premeditated.

So what would happen if these same Blue Zone characteristics were introduced to a place, especially the right kind of place?

Raglan, on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island, is a laid-back coastal town known for its world-class surf breaks, black-sand beaches, and strong creative, eco-conscious community. Despite this, it is not a Blue Zone, not yet anyway.

Would you like to help make it so and, in turn, live longer and healthier?

Events will be added once we reach a certain number of members.
