Name: Black Friday Hike-Van Hook Falls

Located in part of the Cane Creek Wilderness Management Area is Van Hook Falls, one of the most iconic landmarks found along the Sheltowee trace. We will hike the Sheltowee trail #100 and explore several smaller waterfalls along the way that are located on Pounder Branch.

I'm leading two hikes on Black Friday, the 2nd hike is optional.

**SHORT DISTANCE HIKERS**
**Hike #1** **Van Hook Falls**\- elevation gain 528\- moderately challenging route\. Total trip \(out and back\) **5.5 miles**
**--** follow the directions in this event and meet at the Van Hook Falls trailhead. Hike to VHF and back to the trailhead (out and back route) total distance for the day 5.5-6 miles. Finish around 1:00 pm and drive home.

**LONG DISTANCE HIKERS**
**HIKE #2 Bee Rock Overlook and Rock Castle Narrows**, elevation gain 695-moderately challenging route. (loop) **5.5 miles**
--follow the direction in this event, and meet at the Van Hook Falls trailhead, hike to VHF and back to trailhead for out and back route 5.5 miles then drive to the next trailhead (a few miles away) and hike Bee Rock & Rock Castle Narrows trail for 5.5 more miles. Total distance for the day 10-11 miles. Finish late afternoon then drive home.

**Directions to VHF trailhead:**
From Lexington take I-75 South, drive 66 miles, take exit #38 for London. Turn right onto KY 192 W. Drive 14 miles to the junction of KY 192 W and KY 1193 S. The trailhead parking on your left. Travel time from Lexington is about 1.5 hours. Give yourself extra travel time if you have not driven in that area before. **The hike will begin at 9:30 am.**
