Raven Run Wildflower Walk
Details
Forest and Field Wildflower walk at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. We'll be hiking the Red Main Loop trail the Blue Trail and the Yellow trail for forest wildflowers like Blue Eyed Mary's, Blood Root, Twinleaf, Trilliums, Dutchman's Breeches, Squirrel Corn, Trout Lillies, Rue Anemones, Wood Poppy and Lavender Waterleaf. Meadow trails like the Green trail and Orange trail will have some Violets, Phlox, Spring Beauty, Tooth Warts and Fleabanes. Bring at least one liter of water, clothing for weather change, trail snacks, personal first aid kit for blisters and hiking poles.
This is a moderately difficult hike. We are descending to the river from the Red and Yellow trails of approximately 350 feet going to the River Overlook, Evans Mill and and Silver Falls. The return to the Visitors Center is a continual ascent with few switchbacks. Total elevation gain is approximately 700 to 800 feet. This is not a beginners hike. Those with good cardiovascular health should do well. This is going to be approximately 6 miles.
