Somatic yoga combines somatics—a movement practice focused on internal sensation—with yoga. It helps retrain the brain, allowing muscles to fully relax and return to their natural state, undoing habitual movement patterns that can lead to pain. Myofascial release yoga is a form of yoga that targets tension and tightness in the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles, organs, and bones.
Practicing these forms of yoga can help release tension, regulate the nervous system, and address unhelpful movement patterns that contribute to pain.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the principles behind these practices before diving into movement. The session will incorporate breath, sound, asana, and plenty of props! You'll leave with practical techniques to release tension and regulate your nervous system in daily life.
