North Kearsarge - - A Night in a Fire Tower

With a summit of 3,269 feet, Kearsage North sits in the middle of the 52-With-A-View list. Atop this peak stands a glassed-in firetower. Before the black flies have coordinated their springtime sorties, we'll be hiking to the summit and spending the night in the fire tower. We'll park just off Hurrican Mountain Road in Intervale and hike the Kearsarge North Trail 3.1 miles to the summit. Upon arriving at the top, we'll lay a claim to our spot inside the tower and then explore the summit to take in the 360 degrees of views.
You will need to carry a backpack with drinking/cooking water, food, sleeping pad and sleeping bag. Unless we get a late start, there should be no need to bring a tent. You are free to handle your own meals, or join Chef Walter and me for Appetizers, Dinner and Breakfast. The Forest Service advised that we may use camp stoves inside the fire tower.
