This is NOT Mt Monadnock. "Pack" means small in local Native American language. It's Mt Monadnock's smaller cousin.
We'll meet at 5pm but be hiking by 530.
I'll be camping nearby. I'll post the details once I figure them out in case anyone wants to camp.
Sunset 7:07
Moonrise 6:47
We're going to hike up Pack Monadnock to watch the sunset on top of the mountain. This isn't Mount Monadnock. It's a smaller version of it nearby. "Pack" is a native American term for "small". We hike up the trail but for safety reasons we will walk down the paved Road after Dark. Yes there is a paved road to the summit.
Sunset is about 7:07 so we should be on the trail hiking by 530.
Be ready for fall-ish Weather. Dress warm - it'll be chilly on the way down.
Bring a fleece.
Bring flashlight or headlamps. The moonrise and Sunset should be great.
Needless to say that headlamps and/or flashlights are mandatory. Please bring appropriate clothing and foot gear. IE hiking boots.
This should be a great opportunity for photos as well. Bring your nice cameras.
It's not a difficult climb. it only should take about 60 - 90 minutes to Summit. 900 feet of elevation gain.
The New Hampshire Audubon as a raptor migration Observatory station up there. So if we're lucky there will be some experts there doing some bird watching. It's a popular spot with them. For the birds and the Watchers :-)
Bring cheese crackers and your favorite beverage for snack time at the summit. There are picnic tables.
We will go out afterwards for dinner at a great local pub.
Also bring snacks and beverages for a quick picnic at the summit.
Its $4 to park - Bring Cash
