Sam Houston National Forest - Various Gravel and Forest Roads
Details
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!
Once again, club member David Greenwood will lead us on some of his favorite gravel & forest roads in and around the Sam Houston National Forest!
We will meet at Woodlands Premium Motorcycles at 9 AM--more details to follow. Please arrive fueled and ready to roll.
The ride is expected to take about 2.5 - 3 hrs, and includes numerous stops along the way. It will end in Magnolia, and for those that don't need to rush home, we have a couple good ideas on a lunch spot (still TBD).
This is not a highly technical route and a good way to ease your GS into the off-road world just a bit. If you are brand new to gravel, we can discuss options on airing-down tires to make your bike a little less sensitive, and I will bring a portable air compressor for any that want to air up before riding home. Do be prepared for a little dust if it hasn't rained recently.

SAFETY & MISC
Some general rules for the ride to help with safety, inclusion, and minimal confusion are listed below.
- Ride your own ride! Your participation indicates your understanding that you participate entirely at your own risk and accept complete responsibility for the safety and well-being of yourself, your passengers, and your property. Your participation also indicates you carry insurance in accordance with Texas law, and that you have a motorcycle license.
- Please ride with your lights on and carry emergency contact information with you.
- Let's maintain a safety-minded culture: All the Gear, All the Time. That includes a helmet, jacket and riding pants (preferably armored), over-the-ankle boots, and gloves.
- Please make sure you start the trip with a full tank of gas. Plan on having enough gas to travel 125 miles between gas stops. Never pass up an opportunity to get gas when we stop for a break.
- This is not a ride for stunting. Please don't pull wheelies, stoppies, or stunts of any kind!
- If you are going to break off from the route, please wave at someone so we know you left the group on purpose, then have a great day.
- Keep an eye on the person behind you. If you lose sight, turn around and find out what happened. Let's not leave anyone behind.
- Any time a turn signal is required, we will re-group, i.e., wait until the last rider (Sweep Rider) catches up before continuing.
-Kevin
