UPHILL BATTLES: Hikes & Cards
Details
A relatively light hike to the beach at Witty’s Lagoon, using the Lagoon Trail from the east side of the park. Time and weather permitting, we’ll sit on a blanket and play some short card games on the beach or the grass. I’ll bring a blanket, you’re welcome to do so as well.
Total hike should be about 40-45 minutes there, and then 40-45 minutes back depending on our pace. This is a popular park and the trail is recently renovated. Things to keep in mind about the trail itself:
- There’s very little loose gravel or dirt, but a lot of roots and steps, and a lot of up and down, so it could be hard on knees.
- Sharpest incline is about 25 meters vertical, but with a couple switchbacks, so not too steep.
- Rated “moderate” on AllTrails.
- About 6.5km total.
There’s parking at the nearby regional park to Tower Point. Possibly also on Cliff Drive, but not at the trailhead itself or on lower Olympic View Drive. I’ll be waiting at the trailhead. We’ll head out no later than five minutes from the MeetUp start time.
If it’s a drizzle I’ll still be there, but probably won’t play a game midway through the hike. If the weather is pouring it on in the morning, I will cancel, so please check back on the app. Dress warmly! Hope to see you there.
