**Join us for an inspiring conversation on the art of building true community.** David Viafora, author of *Thriving Together: Nine Principles for Cocreating True Community*, will guide us through the essential elements of healthy, mindful communities. His book—praised by Sister True Dedication as “a multi-year journey across continents, drawing on the wisdom of over 100 community builders”—offers practical insights and heartfelt stories from the Plum Village tradition.
In this interactive session, David will invite us to share our own experiences and questions, creating a dialogue that speaks directly to our needs. He’ll explore how challenges, whether personal or collective, can become opportunities for strength, joy, and compassionate connection. As David writes in *Thriving Together*: *“In true community, we don’t have to face the difficulties of the world on our own. What we can embrace and heal together is far greater and more fulfilling than what we could ever achieve alone.”*

**About the Speaker:**
David Viafora, LICSW, Chân Thiền Sơn (True Zen Mountain), began building sanghas over 20 years ago and has dedicated his life to fostering mindful communities. Ordained as a monk by Thích Nhất Hạnh in 2005, David spent years in Plum Village monasteries before embracing lay practice. Today, he lives in North Carolina, practicing with Greatwoods Zen Sangha, and remains committed to healing intergenerational trauma and cultivating harmony. When he’s not teaching, David enjoys tea in the forest, sangha game nights, conscious dance, haiku, and sunset meditations.
