This course is not a drop-in course and participants are expected to attend all sessions, arrive on time and stay until the session has finished, so please plan to make time for receiving these precious teachings on Emptiness, and make the most of this auspicious opportunity.
The Three Principle Aspects of the Path are: Renunciation, Bodhichitta and Emptiness (Shunyata). Shri Dharmakirti will teach sequentially on each aspect with a special focus on the Prasangika Madhyamika exposition of Emptiness. Towards the end of the course, Shri Dharmakirti will talk briefly about the Mantrayana view.
“Shunyata Yasya Yujyate Tasya Sarvam Cha Yujyate”
“For whom Emptiness is possible, all is possible.”
- Arya Nagarjuna
Learning, reflecting and meditating on these Three Principle Aspects of the Path are essential for anyone who is interested in following the Mahayana Buddhist path.
SHRI DHARMAKIRTI
Shri Dharmakirti, a disciple of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, was born in a Sikh family in Shimla, in the Himalayan mountains. He studied biochemisty in college, and later worked as an advertising executive and computer programmer. After encountering the Prasangika Madhyamika system of Arya Nagarjuna, he ‘left home’ when he was twenty-seven, and became a disciple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. During the six years he spent at the feet of his Guru in Dharamsala, he received the initiations and further instructions in the practice of Highest Secret Mantra, and was inducted into the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa. He has spent the best part of the past 20 years in retreat in the Kullu valley and at other secluded places, and has occasionally taught and lead others in retreats during that time.
Shri Dharmakirti's last four years in retreat have been at the Bodhicharya Meditation Centre in Sikkim, India, made possible by the hospitality and generosity of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche. Ringu Tulku Rinpoche has known Shri Dharmakirti since he was a young boy, as Rinpoche and Dharmakirti's father were colleagues and friends. Ringu Tulku Rinpoche has been a supportive and influential figure in Shri Dharmakirti's spiritual life.
Recently, at the 2023 Bodhicharya Summer Camp in Portugal, when a participant asked Ringu Tulku Rinpoche how they could learn more about Emptiness, Rinpoche responded with a few book suggestions and also pointed to this upcoming course with Shri Dharmakirti.
This course will be given from the Bodhicharya Retreat Centre in Sikkim, India, by Shri Dharmakirti via Zoom:
