Reaching for Authenticity

Details

As we continue our exploration of Somatic (body-based) Psychology, we come to the notion of the 'True Self'.
This is a common theme in the Arts and Existential Philosophy (Aristotle, Sartre, Kierkegaard, Heidegger, and Buber).Recent cognitive behavioral research has also shed light on the subject and demonstrated a direct link between our (cognitive) access to who we are at our core, and the experience of meaning in our lives.
In this months meeting we will trace an outline of the 'true-self' concept in western thought, tying it in with our current topic of Personality Patterns.
Join us at 1pm Saturday 29 March for a personal encounter with your true-self!

In Aristotle's philosophy, "daimon" refers to a person's "true self" or inner potential, and "eudaimonia" (often translated as "flourishing" or "living well") is achieved by living in accordance with one's daimon, through cultivating virtues and living a life of reason and moral excellence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulhrQ_QmKDI
