We will be navigating well-marked trails that are generally flat and accessible, making this a great outing for hikers of all skill levels. Keep your eyes peeled for local residents like gopher tortoises, hawks, and perhaps the occasional deer. The preserve’s unique name comes from its historical role as a campsite for travelers during the yellow fever outbreaks of the 1800s, adding a touch of local lore to our trek.
Event Highlights:
Terrain: Mostly flat, sandy trails with some shaded sections.
Nature: Excellent birdwatching and wildflower spotting.
What to bring: Sunscreen, plenty of water, and comfortable walking shoes.
Right after the hike, we’ll head to Keke's for some delicious breakfast/brunch food! 😋 🍳☕️
