Lover's Key Hike and Beach Day

Join us for a scenic morning exploring the natural beauty of Lovers Key State Park! We’ll start our adventure on the Black Island Trail, a 2.5-mile loop that winds through a lush maritime hammock and follows the edges of serene inner canals. This trail is mostly flat and shaded, making it a comfortable walk for all skill levels. Keep your eyes peeled as we wander—it’s very common to spot gopher tortoises on the path, ospreys nesting overhead, and occasionally manatees or dolphins playing in the waterways that parallel the trail. We will meet at the bayside parking lot (near the kayak launch and boat ramp) to hit the trailhead together.
After our hike, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at one of Florida’s most beautiful "unspoiled" beaches. You can hop on the park's tram or take the short walk over the bridge to the sugar-sand shoreline of the Gulf. Whether you want to hunt for shells, take a refreshing swim, or just relax under the sun with the group, it’s the perfect way to cool off after our walk. It’s going to be a great day of fresh air and coastal scenery—we can’t wait to see you there!:
Meeting Location: Main Bayside Parking Lot (follow signs for the Boat Ramp/Kayak Launch).
Park Fee: $8 per vehicle (up to 8 people).
What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and your beach gear if you plan to stay!
Main Bayside Parking Area
When you enter the park through the main gates on Estero Boulevard, look for the signage directing you toward the boat ramp and kayak launch area. This lot is situated on the "inland" side of the park rather than the Gulf side.
Proximity: The trailhead for the Black Island Trail is located directly adjacent to this parking lot, near the bridge that crosses over to Black Island.
Amenities: Parking here puts you right next to the Lovers Key Adventures rental stand and the public restrooms.
