Basic agenda:
Starting at Silvermine’s second gate, a short walk followed by a stiff climb up Wolfkop takes you to the summit, where breathtaking views await. The footpath twists through fynbos and rugged rock formations, climbing and descending until Higher Steenberg comes into view. After resting at Fat Ladies Cave, we embark on a short search for the Skinny Leg Cave, tucked away nearby. The footpath clings to the Steenberg edge, weaving past Lower Steenberg and Splitkop Cave as it climbs towards Muizenberg Peak, offering spectacular views of the Sandvlei Estuary. The trail dips down to the valley floor before climbing again toward St. James Peak, where even more breathtaking views await.
We pass Muizenberg Cave briefly before joining a gravel path that leads past Nellies Pool and Junction Pool at the T-junction. Turning right, we follow the gravel road through an S-bend, which brings us to a footpath south of Splikop. From here, the trail curves westward, guiding us back to Wolfkop where we will descend back to the parking area.
