Art + Social Practice Conversations: Manfred Parrales and Midori Yamanaka

Details
BOLD is thrilled to host Art + Social Practice Conversations with Manfred Parrales, author of Leaving Places, and Midori Yamanaka, author of In Between -その間で-.
Join us for an evening of books, dialogue, and celebration as we mark the release of two new publications from KSMoCA Press: In Between by Midori Yamanaka and Leaving Places by Manfred Parrales. Both books are part of the Art and Social Practice Conversations series and explore themes of cultural exchange, memory, identity, and place. Through interviews and personal reflection, these works invite readers to consider what happens in the spaces between—between languages, geographies, and lived experiences. Come meet the artists and be part of the ongoing conversation.
Midori Yamanaka is a Social Practice Artist and Educator based in Portland, Oregon, living between the United States and Japan. Originally from Okhotsk, a northern coastal region of Japan shaped by indigenous Ainu culture, her early experiences fostered a sensitivity to nature, language, and difference.
Manfred Parrales (he/him) is a multidisciplinary Latin artist whose practice bridges design, art history, social practice art, video, and community building. With a strong foundation in art history and visual communication, he integrates diverse media and collaborative methodologies into his work, positioning art as a vehicle for collective dialogue rather than individual expression.
Arrive at 6:30 p.m. to grab a snack or drink. The event will start at 7:00 p.m.

Event cohosted by BOLD Coffee & Books and Indigo: Editing, Design, and More.
