Author Reading: Hillary Tiefer, The Secret Ranch

BOLD is thrilled to host a reading with Hillary Tiefer, author of The Secret Ranch.

Hillary Tiefer will discuss her novel, The Secret Ranch, and the historical background of the story. She will share photos of real women in the Women’s Army Corps who intercepted enemy code during World War II at Two Rock Ranch near Petaluma, California. She will also focus on her main character, who reflects back to her experience of the war, which was painful but also offered her important insights. Hillary will do a short reading from the novel.

Hillary Tiefer has a PhD in English and has taught at various colleges in the Pacific Northwest. Several of her short stories have been published in literary journals. She has a short story forthcoming in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine (Sept./Oct. 2025). She lives in Portland with her husband.
