Author Reading: Erin Van Rheenen in Conversation with Suzy Vitello
Details
BOLD is thrilled to host a reading with Erin Van Rheenen, author of You Could Be Happy Here, in conversation with Suzy Vitello, author of The Bequest.
How far would you go to find your true home? In her debut novel, travel writer Erin Van Rheenen brings us a haunting story that Karen Joy Fowler says “take you someplace wonderful.” When Lucy loses her mother and discovers her biological father may be a man from her childhood summers in Costa Rica, she sets out to find him—and herself. You Could be Happy Here is a story of identity, belonging, and of opening your heart to a deeper understanding of kinship and home. Erin will be in conversation with Suzy Vitello, author of The Bequest.
Erin Van Rheenen is a widely published travel, science, and fiction writer. Her debut novel, You Could Be Happy Here, has been called “beautifully written and soul-searching.” Other books include Living Abroad in Costa Rica and The Manatee’s Big Day. After many years abroad, Erin is now based in San Francisco.
Suzy Vitello’s award-winning short pieces have appeared in The Rumpus, The Southampton Review, Mississippi Review and other journals. Her latest novel, The Bequest, has been called “a riveting, fast-paced crime caper.” Other novels include BITTERROOT, FAULTLAND, THE MOMENT BEFORE, THE EMPRESS CHRONICLES, and THE KEEPSAKE. She works as managing editor for Sibylline Press.
