Art Showcase: Zoe Stanek and Lincoln High School Art Department
Details
Closing Show: Zoe Stanek
February–April
Born in Nebraska and raised in Western Colorado, Zoe Stanek has found her place among the trees in Oregon’s Pacific Northwest. Zoe is a writer and artist who takes inspiration from landscapes and everyday magic. She writes whimsical fairy tales about women and girls: slice of life stories of worlds just beyond our own. Her art follows suit, depicting playful scenes and teeming with wonder. Zoe’s dream is to become an author of children’s books and novels that might someday be part of everyone’s libraries. She has several years of editing and layout experience as well, having worked on several publications in Adobe InDesign. She graduated from Pacific University in 2022 as a Creative Writing major with a double minor in Editing & Publishing and Fine Arts.

Opening Show: Lincoln High School Art Students
April–June
Originally called Portland High School and founded in 1869, Lincoln is one of the oldest high schools on the West Coast. In 2022, Lincoln was completely rebuilt with state-of-the-art facilities, including the art studio. This show is curated by teacher Hope Ferns, who says of her love of teaching, “[There’s] something about when students are excited about creating and they get this look in their eye or an “Aha” moment or something clicks. I just live for it. I wish I could bottle it up. Being able to share things I find interesting and learn as much from students as hopefully they learn from me. Art is such a fun, collaborative space. I’ll give you the tools, but you run with them. Seeing what people get to create and their growth throughout the year is really exciting.”
