BOLD is thrilled to host Get Speculative! Poetry Night with Brian U. Garrison, Katherine Quevedo, and Richard Leis.

Come hear what the poets are talking about: hopeful futures, video games, and the weird fears underneath it all. Three local writers share new words and crowd favorites. Brian U. Garrison's latest chapbook, The Future is Antifascist, is a reminder for folks to confirm their voter registration. Katherine Quevedo's forthcoming book, Extra Lives in Verse, puts a new spin on pixels. Richard Leis works on an active Mars mission and will read from his speculative and dark poetry.

Brian U. Garrison (he/him) writes poetry for children, adults, and grand adults. His latest book, The Future is Antifascist, channels rage to find a path toward hope. He serves as President of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association. He votes by mail from Portland, Oregon.

Katherine Quevedo hails from Beaverton, Oregon, where she works as an analyst and lives with her husband and two sons. She is the Elgin Award-winning author of The Inca Weaver’s Tales, fantasy novella Thrice Petrified, and forthcoming book of video game poetry Extra Lives in Verse from Manawaker Studio.

Richard Leis’s poems and stories have been published in The Deadlands, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Nightmare, other publications, and anthologies. He is a Rhysling Award finalist and Pushcart Prize nominee. He works on an active Mars mission that takes high-resolution images of the Martian surface from orbit.
