Primitive and Modern Fire Making Techniques

• What we'll do
One element has seperated Humankind from Beast.....Fire

Since the dawn of man, the ability to make fire has been around since the first civilizations formed. This class will be structured with instructional periods and hands on practical application on how to make fire as early man did. We will examine the hand drill, the bow drill and the flint and steel methods (not so early, but still primitive by todays standards).

We will also examine modern fire making methods using commerical fire starters, and common household goods that could be utilized in an emergency situation.

Each attendee will leave with a fire starting kit (both primitive and modern). Primitve kits will be based on local species.

This class will be dictated by weather conditions. If it is raining or extremly high winds, it will be difficult (but not impossible) to obtain an amber utilzing primitve methods.

All particpatants must agree to Idenminty/hold harmless waiver. If you cannot agree to one of these please do not sign up. Thanks for understanding of this aspect.

• What to bring
Water, sunscreen and any snacks. Note taking material will be helpful.
