About us
Book Club: Love Letters to Black Women
About the Book Club...
Love Letters to Black Women is a member-led literary salon exploring the stories, voices, and global impact of Black women. We read across genres and cultures, letting our collective curiosity shape what comes next.
You’ll Love This If…
You enjoy lively discussions, unexpected book pairings, and being part of a community that centers and celebrates Black women’s experiences.
Our Intention...
To create a thoughtful, joyful space where we explore Black womanhood through literature in all its layers — past, present, and imagined.
Our Structure...
Each month, members submit up to two book options and vote for 2–3 favorites. The top vote becomes our primary read. The second vote becomes our surprise pairing, creating organic connections across genres and cultures. Reading both is encouraged, never required.
Our Program...
- Monthly discussions (salon-style: smart, warm, engaging)
- Quarterly salons with local authors, poets, or creatives
- A growing community library of all submitted books
The Commitment...
Come as you are. Read what you can. Join the conversation in whatever way feels good. This is a space built on curiosity, connection, and a shared love for Black women in literature.

## About This Month’s Pick(s)
Each month, our community votes on our main read and companion pairing.
We're currently reading: Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
## What to Expect
✨ A grounded, engaging conversation
We’ll dive into the primary read (and the companion pairing for those who explored both), unpacking the ideas, questions, and emotions the works stirred up.
✨ Space to share, question, and discover
We’re not here to “analyze” for correctness. We’re here to think, feel, and explore together.
✨ A community-centered experience
Our book club is co-curated, so discussion is always enriched by the diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and reading experiences in the room.
✨ A wrap-up + look-ahead
We’ll close with reflections and light reminders about the next month’s submission and voting cycle.## Do I need to finish the book to attend?
Not at all. Come as you are. Whether you finished, skimmed, or are here to listen and learn, your presence is welcome.
