December 8, 2022: Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen

The Rathskeller

*Please note that the location of December's Meetup has been changed to The Rathskeller. I was notified by text on November 16 by Taxman Cityway that they are allowing a private party to rent out the entire building on December 8, and have therefore canceled our reservation! Sorry for the inconvenience.

We had a large group for our discussion of I'm Possible, the inspiring memoir of Richard Antoine White's quite literal rise from the tough streets of Baltimore to principal tubist of the New Mexico Philharmonic. We were pleased to find that White received his master's and doctoral degrees from the Indiana University School of Music!

Our December selection is the 2021 novel Crossroads, by Jonathan Franzen. Amazon.com calls Crossroads "a tour de force of interwoven perspectives and sustained suspense, its action largely unfolding on a single winter day...Crossroads is the story of a Midwestern family at a pivotal moment of moral crisis."

Since there can be no social distancing at our table, we will again require ALL participants to be fully vaccinated, including at least one booster shot. Please do not attend our in-person Meetups until you are fully vaccinated. We want to do all we can to ensure the safety of everyone who attends.

We hope to see you on December 8! And if you aren't already, please arrive fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
