I would like to read Reading Lolita in Tehren. I would like to discuss the book at Silver Tip Tea Room in Tarrytown. I think a lunch would be nice 12:00 maybe 12:30.
 
I also like the idea of the park picnic. I think we should wait until it gets a little warmer.
 
Uma house is TOO far for me. If the meet up is going to be April 18, 2010, we need to choose a book quickly. We need time to purchase the book and read it.

I am looking at all your suggestions. So many. First, regarding The Help, we read it a year ago. As to the sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, we offered Tattoo twice, no one came. So the sequel will be an even tougher sell, though it's great.

As to Sudden Death, I am awaiting word from it's author about a date in April. I love the idea of having a meeting with an author. Several have offered to meet with us, including Rosemary Harris, for Pushing Up Daisies, and Gordon Snyder for the Hypnotist. I also read New World Monkeys, which author Nancy Mauro offered to join us for. Check each one out and see if it interests you.

Now here's my brief. I would like to bring forward books that offer us meaningful discussion. It's one thing to have a page-turner that we agree is most entertaining, and then go on to eat our suppers. It's another to engage in a deep discussion about a book, like we did with The Help and with Cold Mountain.

Some suggestions here, Heavy Metal: a Tank Company?s Battle to Baghdad, LITTLE BEE, by Chris Cleave or Reading Lolita in
Tehran, by Azar Nafisi. Here's another one. It got 5 stars from almost 2000 reviewers on Amazon, Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson. Check these out and let us know what you think.

We'll aim for Sunday April 18 for our next meeting.

Now as to time and place. Our usual time is 5:30. Let us know if another time is better for you and we'll find a consensus. As to place, three suggestions besides our usual Elmsford Restaurant. Uma offered to host at her apartment, and I offer to host at my house in Hartsdale. Karoline suggested the Silver Tips Tea Room in Tarrytown. And Beth suggested a picnic lunch at a park.

So let us know what you think. If we go with April 18, we need to decide on a book this week.
