Let's read Snow Country instead of Don Quixote... we made more changes last Saturday. With our quorum of members, it was agreed that Don Quixote is a very long and complex will do it over two months, May and June. But it was unanimous that we read Snow Country first. Thereafter, summer reading will start with Milton's Paradise Lost on the first Saturday in July. Snow Country...April Don Quixote....May and June Paradise Lost...July We are open for book suggestions for the rest of year...from August through December. As to venues...Lakeside was noisy and expensive, yet we owe each restaurant for use of their room, to always order some food and drink. Please do not bring any of your own food and drink to any restaurant venue, for that is not fair to them and to wait staff who live off patrons tips. PLEASE everyone, offer suggestions in the general area of Encino, of locations that might be less noisy and also have less expensive choices for food and drink. Look forward to next month, and seeing our great new members, Pamela, Paula, and Danny again, who added so much to our Candide discussion. But must caution other new members who sign up, but then STAND US UP as NO SHOWS, we concurred that after 2 NO SHOWS folks will be removed from our meetup group. And big thanks to Lawrence, Tim, and Karen, our loyal old time members, for so many amazing always. Now that we are up to 744 members, almost double the number from when I took on this joyful organizing task in Dec. 2016, that more of you join us in both the SFV and in LA. You will love it. Also need to remind both SFV and LA members who attend, please kick in a buck a meeting to help us defray the cost of paying the Meetup organization. They automatically take $90 from my credit card for a each 6 month period...equals $180 a year...just sayin.... Ellen...your Organizer...with Matt as Event Host for the LA group.
