"Kin", "Yellowface", "Personal Librarian"
Details
We will meet September 10th at 6pm, at a Persian restaurant in the Upper East Side, Persepolis, and discuss "Kin" by Tayari Jones, about two motherless daughters raised in Louisiana and their different courses of life as women in the south; "Yellowface" a New York Times bestseller about two writers and a manuscript on the Chinese workers recruited by British army in the first world war, published by one of them as her own; and "Personal Librarian" about J. P. Morgan’s personal librarian, Belle da Costa Greene, the Black American woman who served him with a hidden identity and led as the first Director the Morgan's Library and Museum on 37rd street and Madison avenue.
As always, you will need to have read at least one of the 3 books on the title, but you’re welcome to read all of them. Happy reading!
