Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. A book for anyone who has ever played video games or possibly anyone trying to figure out gaming culture or those nostalgic for the 1980s.
The book is set in the year 2044. A wealthy video game designer, who designed a massively multiplayer game (Oasis) played by millions, dies and leaves his wealth to the first person who solves the game that he designed as part of his will.
Wade Watts is a teen obsessed with Oasis as an escape from the drudgery of his life. But in solving clues, he becomes a target of others who want the wealth for themselves.
