What we're about
Welcome to BoomerAge Duluth!
BoomerAge was formed to bring together adults over the age of 50 interested in getting and staying physically fit and to promote the concept of active aging. We are committed to improving the quality of life for a new generation of seniors.
The group was founded in the spring of 2014. Since that time BoomerAge has provided a full calendar of fitness activities for members including but not limited to: hiking, walking, biking, tennis, and pickle ball, skiing, skating, rock climbing, snowshoeing and dancing.
Starting in the spring of 2016, BoomerAge will begin sponsoring a broad range of activities to promote healthy aging Book clubs, classes on a variety of topics, card games, and other new types of Meet Ups will be offered in addition to our current program . Members are encouraged to contact the organizer with ideas for Meet Ups they would be interested in hosting both for physical and mental fitness. A Meet Up does not have to be a large group. If one person hosts an activity and one person signs up it is a Meet Up. If you are interested in doing something chances are there will be someone else interested in doing it with you.
All BoomerAge Meet Ups are hosted and led by the organizer and members who volunteer to be event hosts. Any member can request to become an event host.
Those who teach a class or lead an event may charge attendees up to $5.00 per class or event. The fee should be indicated on the description of the Meet Up, Members will pay the instructor/activity leader directly. None of these fees will go to Meet Up or the organizer.
BoomerAge is meant to be club of like-minded individuals who will get to know one another and become friends. For that purpose we request that all members attend at least four Meet Ups per year. Yearly dues of $15.00 are collected to pay for cost of having the Meet Up site. Dues are paid by credit card to meetup.com. If dues lapse or are not paid before the free trial period ends members will automatically become pending members and will no longer be able to RSVP to events. A pending membership can be reactivated by paying the dues.
BoomerAge is open to singles, couples, men and women. BoomerAge is NOT a dating site or a singles group. BoomerAge members can bring their spouses or significant other to any Meet Up without having to purchase an additional membership. Friends and family of any age are welcome to come to events when space is available. To bring along a guest members simply add a + 1 or a + 2 to their RSVP.
At the request of it's members, this group only allows certain information to be shared with the public. You are required to submit a photo to join BoomerAge but photos are seen only by other members of the group. Since many members have the same first names it best to register with your first and last name or initial to avoid confusion.

As per the Meet Up guidelines, postings on our site are monitored by the organizer. As a member, we ask that you RSVP to events no later the two hours beforehand and that you change your RSVP within the same time period if you find yourself unable to attend. Event hosts do try to make sure that they find and include everyone who has signed up for a Meet Up and "no-shows" are strongly discouraged.
