BoomerAge was formed to bring together adults over the age of 50 interested in getting and staying physically fit and to promote the concept of active aging. We are committed to improving the quality of life for a new generation of seniors.
The group was founded in the spring of 2014. Since that time BoomerAge has provided a full calendar of fitness activities for members including but not limited to: hiking, walking, biking, tennis, and pickle ball, skiing, skating, rock climbing, snowshoeing and dancing.
Starting in the spring of 2016, BoomerAge began sponsoring a broad range of activities to promote healthy aging Book clubs, classes on a variety of topics, card games, movies, and other types of Meet Ups are now offered
All BoomerAge Meet Ups are hosted and led by the organizer and members who volunteer to be event hosts. All paid members will be given the tools needed to be an event host. Being an event host is easy; you simply fill in the blanks to let others know the time, date, and details of your Meet Up. You will be able to see members who have RSVP'd and talk with them in the conversation area below. At the Meet Up, just find and greet attendees and then you are set to go. Hosting a Meet Up is a great way to share your interests, find others to do things with, and make new friends. If only one other person comes to your Meet Up It is still a successful Meet Up. If no one signs up for a Meet Up it can simply be canceled. One reason that BoomerAge has been operating successfully since 2014 is that many of our members volunteer as event hosts.
BoomerAge is meant to be club of like-minded individuals who will get to know one another and become friends. For that purpose we request that all members attend at least four Meet Ups per year. Yearly dues of $15.00 are collected to pay for cost of having the Meet Up site. Dues are paid by credit card to meetup.com. If dues lapse or are not paid before the free trial period ends members will automatically become pending members and will no longer be able to RSVP to events. A pending membership can be reactivated by paying the dues.
BoomerAge is open to singles, couples, men and women. BoomerAge is NOT a dating site or a singles group. BoomerAge members can bring their spouses or significant other to any Meet Up without having to purchase an additional membership. Friends and family of any age are welcome to come to events when space is available. To bring along a guest members simply add a + 1 or a + 2 to their RSVP.
At the request of it's members, this group only allows certain information to be shared with the public. You are required to submit a photo to join BoomerAge but photos are seen only by other members of the group. Since many members have the same first names it best to register with your first and last name or initial to avoid confusion.
