About us
The Blue Ridge Group is the Sierra Club's group in northwest North Carolina. This includes Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Watagua, and Wilkes counties. We offer hikes to help people enjoy the natural world in this part of the state and occasional programs to talk about issues affecting us here.

Boone Fork Trail Hike - June 27

The Boone Fork Trail is a lovely hike beginning at the Price Park Picnic Area. We will follow the trail down the Boone Fork to it's junction with Bee Tree Creek. The trail follows this creek uphill to a field and into the Price Park Campground. Most of the walk is through second-growth hardwood forests with some rock-hopping along the way. Overall the trail is considered moderate
Access the Boone Fork Trail at the wooden footbridge in Price Park Picnic area (Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 296.4). We will meet at the trailhead at 9:30. There are restrooms in the picnic area at the trailhead.
REGISTER FOR THE HIKE USING THE LINK ON THE CALENDAR ON THE SIERRA CLUB'S BLUE RIDGE GROUP'S HOMEPAGE. If we need to cancel the hike due to weather or other event, we will use your registration information to contact you.
Please plan to dress in layers and bring rain gear if needed. We will plan on stopping for snacks or lunch during the hike so bring food and at least one liter of water. Families are welcome! Any minors (under 18-years-old) should be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members. Dogs are allowed on this hike but must be well-behaved and on a leash at all times.
There is no charge for this hike and it is open to both Sierra Club members and to non-members. We do require participants sign a standard liability waiver at the trailhead or when registering. If you'd like to read the waiver prior to the hike please email us at BlueRidgeSierraClub AT gmail.com and we will send you a copy.

needed. Bring snacks if desired and at least one liter of water.Signup Restrictions: Dogs are allowed but they must be on a leash no longer than 6' and be well-behaved. Solid waste is to be bagged and carried out. Please bring your pet waste collection items. Minors (under 18 years old) must be accompanied and supervised by parents or other adult family members.
Carpool: The Sierra Club encourages carpooling to the Price Park Picnic Area trailhead but is not able to provide shuttles or carpooling.
