Outdoor Education & Home Education Sessions – Jays Wood, Boughton-under-Blean
Starting March
We’re excited to be launching a new Outdoor Education & Home Education programme at the beautiful Jays Wood, Boughton-under-Blean, delivered by Outdoor Education Kent CIC in collaboration with Boots On Adventures.
These sessions are designed for children who learn best by doing, by moving, and by being outdoors.
What will sessions include?
• Bushcraft & woodland skills
• Fire lighting & outdoor cooking (age appropriate)
• Shelter building & teamwork challenges
• Tool use with experienced supervision
• Nature study, ecology & seasonal learning
• Confidence, resilience & wellbeing through outdoor play
Who are these sessions for?
Home-educated children
Children needing a more hands-on learning environment
Neurodivergent children who benefit from outdoor, low-pressure spaces
Families looking for meaningful, high-quality outdoor education
All sessions are led by experienced outdoor educators, with safeguarding, risk assessments, and outdoor first aid in place. Group sizes are kept small to ensure safety, connection, and high-quality learning.
Why outdoor education?
Time and again we see how learning in nature supports:
• Confidence and self-esteem
• Emotional regulation and wellbeing
• Social skills and cooperation
• Curiosity, independence and problem-solving
This isn’t a one-off activity — it’s a consistent, structured programme that grows with the seasons and with the children.
