# 🏞️ Wye & The Devil’s Kneading Trough Walk

### 🌿 Overview

Step into history and folklore on this circular walk from the village of Wye, one of the most picturesque spots in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our route begins at Wye’s historic church, before heading out through fields and orchards towards the dramatic chalk escarpment of the Devil’s Kneading Trough.
From the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views stretching across Kent — on a clear day you can even see as far as Romney Marsh and the English Channel.
The return leg takes us through a series of charming villages and hamlets, where we’ll uncover fascinating local tales, including:
😈 Satan’s mischief said to have shaped the landscape
🕵️‍♀️ The story of a daring lady spy and playwright
👞 Quirky Georgian remedies for gout
This walk is the perfect mix of dramatic scenery, history, and folklore, with plenty of variety underfoot.
