Join us for a special guided walk as part of the YHA Festival of Walking, celebrating the joy of exploring the outdoors on foot. As proud North Downs Way Ambassadors, Boots on Adventures has been invited to lead this free guided walk, designed to showcase some of the finest countryside surrounding Canterbury while welcoming both experienced walkers and those looking to enjoy one of their first longer countryside adventures.
Starting from YHA Canterbury, the route follows beautiful sections of both the North Downs Way National Trail and the Elham Valley Way, leading through orchards, rolling farmland, and peaceful woodland towards the picturesque villages of Patrixbourne and Bekesbourne.
Along the journey, we’ll pass the remains of the medieval Well Chapel, a fascinating historic site dating back to before 1300, before enjoying one of the walk’s most unusual highlights as we cross by the elephant enclosure at Howletts Wild Animal Park. With a relaxed pace, friendly atmosphere, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery, this walk perfectly captures the varied landscapes that make the Kent Downs such a special place to explore.
