Tonight's film is the 1984 classic space adventure Ice Pirate. In the far future water is the most valuable substance. Two space pirates are captured, sold to a princess, and recruited to help her find her father who disappeared when he found information dangerous to the rulers. A real Space Opera with sword fights, explosions, fighting robots, monsters, bar fights and time warps.

Fun facts: The film was intended to be a serious sci-fi film with a $20 million budget. MGM slashed the budget to $8 million and had the script rewritten as a comedy.

Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek (1966), once jokingly said that this film was "singularly responsible for bringing back the death penalty to California."
