Boston Armizare is hosting a FREE introductory workshop on the art of Italian longsword for all women, transgender, and nonbinary people, and any gender minorities who feel comfortable in a space centered on women.
If you’ve ever wanted to pick up a sword, this workshop is for you! Join us at Boston Fencing Club in Allston on April 25th from 10am - 12pm to study and train in early Renaissance swordplay through the manuscripts of 14th century fencing master Fiore de’i Liberi. Liberi’s experience as a knight and mercenary informs the longsword techniques we will be practicing at this event.
This two hour workshop, led by multiple gold medal winner Christina Beaulieu, will give you an introduction to these fighting styles. This will include basic stances, attacks, and select maneuvers utilized in battle by knights trained by Fiore himself!
This event is inspired by the international Give a Girl a Sword campaign from Esfinges, a group aimed at increasing gender diversity in Historical European Martial Arts. Learn more about Esfinges at http://esfinges.net/
