Genome Engineering Bootcamp: Bacillus subtilis
Details
Modern molecular biology techniques have made the sci-fi concept of editing the genome a reality. Here, we present a course outlining the fundamentals of editing a bacterial genome. Genomic edits can be used to reprogram the host organism and to build complex organisms with many interworking parts. In this course we take a tour through the theoretical process of introducing a single genomic edit and pair this with a lab component to generate our own genomically-edited organism. The lecture and lab component take place on Saturday (11-3 PM) and the results will be reviewed Sunday starting at 11am, accompanied by a post-class coffee chat.
