Learning Circle: Introduction to Biology 1

Come and learn biology fundamentals with us! Starting on March 14 and for 8 weeks, BosLab will host a Learning Circle to enhance and expand online learning through lively discussions and group activities. All levels are welcome with opportunities to learn and teach, as we will tune each meeting to participants' needs and interests. Learning Circles are free, facilitated study groups for learners who want to take online courses, together and in person. This Learning Circle offers support for learning basic biology using the "Introduction to Biology - The Secret of Life" free online course from MIT and EdX (https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:MITx+7.00x+3T2017). Participants will meet biweekly on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at BosLab (339R Summer Street, Somerville, MA). They should also dedicate another 1 to 2 hours of personal work to study the online course per week.

There is no pre-required knowledge, and all levels of experience in biology are welcome. In the spirit of Learning Circles, we will organize group learning activities which will give opportunities for more advanced participants to help beginners and for everyone to improve their understanding of biology, in a friendly and low-pressure environment.

The first session will consist of an introduction to the Learning Circle, a discussion centered around participants' background and expectations, and activities to get started with learning biology.
