Tech Talk: How Humans and AI Agents Agree on Who to Save
Speaker: Katelyn Morrison (Carnegie Mellon PhD student, IBM Research)
Abstract: AI agents are increasingly interacting with other agents or end-users who may not always share the same set of moral values. This misalignment in values can lead to under performance and disagreements in shared decision-making contexts. However, we lack understanding of what factors play a role in helping teams with different values reach agreement. In this talk, I will present the Dilemma Arena, a simulation environment where human-AI and AI-AI teams can review, judge, and deliberate on moral dilemmas. I will then cover the benefits and pitfalls of different factors (persuasion style, theory of mind, and value similarity) we explored in the Dilemma Arena with three large language models and 38 human-AI teams.
