Description: A moderate paced loop hike along Sugarloaf Ridge which includes the summits of Little & Big Sugarloaf Mountains finishing with a stop at Goose Pond. The hike features views of Newfound Lake and the mountain ranges in the distance.
The total trip is around 4 miles and has a total estimated elevation gain of around 1,200 ft. and includes forest, rock scrambles, a rock passageway, roots, and rocky terrain.
Cardigan Lodge : Participants on this hike are welcome to reserve a bunk at Cardigan Lodge for Saturday night for this Sunday hike (this is optional). A room block has been reserved for the hike leaders and participants of this hike (until May 7th). The bunk reservation is $108+ any applicable taxes and includes dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning. Cancellations for reservations at Cardigan Lodge are subject to the Cardigan Lodge cancellation terms. Relevant information will be emailed to confirmed participants.
Hiking poles are recommended. Plan to be out for about 5+ hours depending on the pace of the group (which can vary). The hike leaders cannot guarantee the hike will be completed by any specific time.
For this trip, hikers must be comfortable using their hands and feet to climb up rock slab and to navigate over rock inclines and they are expected to be able to hike at least 4 miles up and down steep trails with an overall elevation of 1,000 ft.
When registering for this hike please provide info about the hikes you have completed recently which are similar and include the dates of those hikes (this information helps the hike leaders process your registration)
Required Gear: Sturdy Hiking Shoes. Wear moisture wicking layers and clothing appropriate for the temperatures and conditions. A Daypack/Backpack packed with the following: Water bottle(s) (carry 2 liters of water) lunch and snacks Raincoat/rain gear (just in case) Hiking poles recommended (if you use them)\ bug repellent/bug net/sunscreen
