Description: Join us for a spring ascent of Mount Eisenhower and Mount Pierce, two of the Presidential Range’s 4,000-footers. We’ll summit Eisenhower via Edmands Path through mixed forest and above treeline, traverse to Pierce, and descend via Crawford Path. If skies are clear, we’ll enjoy expansive alpine views of Mount Washington, the Southern Presidentials, and the surrounding White Mountains.
At 7.5 miles with 3,000 feet of elevation gain, this is a vigorous hike suitable for participants with a solid base of fitness and prior hiking experience. We'll hike at a moderate pace. The route includes sustained climbing and exposed sections near the summit that may be windy and have rapidly changing weather. Trail conditions may include mud, standing water, and lingering snow or ice. We will adjust the hike plan if needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable outing. The hike will include a brief car shuttle between the two trailheads.
Participants must bring proper gear for a full day in the mountains, including sturdy waterproof footwear, layered clothing suitable for variable weather, microspikes (in case the trail is still icy), adequate food and water, and the ten essentials. You can consult this 3-season gear list: https://hb.amcboston.org/images/docs/Gear_lists/Spring_Dayhike_gear_list.pdf .
