Description: Join us for a weekend of trail work in the White Mountains of New Hampshire! This two-night stay at AMC's Camp Dodge includes a full day of trail work on Saturday and a half-day on Sunday.
This trip is designed for people interested in learning about trail work and bringing back newly gained skills to local chapter opportunities. No trail work experience is required, only a desire to learn trail work techniques and contribute to the restoration of mountain trails.
Activities may include brushing, rock step installation, clearing drainages and erosion control and will be somewhat tailored to the interests and abilities of the group and will range in difficulty from moderate to vigorous depending on the task. The trail work will involve hiking at least a couple of miles each day with moderate elevation gain. AMC leaders will instruct and guide the work. Participants should expect to be engaged in trail work for 6-8 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday.
Accommodation (Fri and Sat nights - complete with hot showers!) will be in 16-person bunkhouses at Camp Dodge - AMC's trails training center in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire. Breakfast (Sat and Sun), trail lunches (Sat and Sun) and dinner (Fri and Sat) are included.. After lunch on Sunday, participants can stay for informal hiking excursions or head home.
Thanks to a subsidy from the AMC Hiking/Backpacking Committee, there is no cost for the weekend. Places on this weekend adventure will be limited to 20, so early registration is advised.
