Description: This hike is part of the Boston Chapter’s Women’s+ Hiking Series, a series of hikes that begin in the 3-4 mile range in May/June, with options to progressively increase in distance (up to 10 miles) and difficulty throughout the summer. Click here to see other hikes in the series. Jump in wherever is comfortable for you, and join us (for one hike or more) in building strength, experience, confidence, and community in the outdoors!
For this hike, join us on Mt. Wachusett - a small mountain not-too-far from Boston. The terrain is roots, rocks, forest, maybe some mud, streams, and a few rocky scrambles. From the summit and from the viewing tower at the summit, Monadnock can be seen towards the north and on a clear day, Boston to the east.
This hike is approximately 5 miles and about 1000 feet of elevation gain. If you are comfortable hiking on very rocky and rooty terrain but need practice hiking uphill, this is a great mountain on which to start building some uphill endurance. We're not screening for pace, so we will stay together as a group at the pace of the slowest person.
This is intended to be a Womens+ affinity trip , but everyone is welcome. If you do not identify with that group, we trust that you have reviewed our allyship criteria, have done your due diligence to educate yourself, and have committed to abide by our Code of Conduct .
