Description: Trip Description
With dramatic views from Roger’s Ledge and panoramic vistas from the Horn, join us for an iconic NH hike along the scenic and challenging Kilkenny Ridge that will not disappoint! Are you working on your 48? Mt. Cabot and Mt. Waumbek are there for the taking!
This strenuous 3-day hike with moderate to fast pacing includes two nights of tent camping. The total trip will cover 22+ miles with 8,000 feet of elevation gain and a total book time estimated at 20 hours. This is a trip that is best suited for experienced backpackers who have all of their hiking and backpacking gear and are able to use it independently and possibly in the dark and/or rain. Participants should have experience with 4,000 footers and this should not be among your first hikes of the season.
Exact times and routes will be shared with approved participants prior to the hike. Specific itineraries for each day will be discussed in person and determined based on weather and conditions.
General Expectations
This backpacking trip is designed for experienced backpackers who want a challenge. Pace will be moderate to fast with short breaks on trail and slightly longer breaks for pictures and snacks at the summits. This should not be your first 4,000-footer of the season and you should have tested your tent, sleep system, and other camping gear BEFORE this trip.
You should expect stream crossings and rock scrambling in certain sections on all three days.
Participants should be in very good hiking condition and have recent experience hiking similar distances and elevations.
We will provide weather updates closer to the day of the hike.
