Description: Description: Join us for a summer hike to North Kinsman (4,293 ft) and South Kinsman (4,358 ft) in New Hampshire's White Mountains! This out-and-back hike follows the Lonesome Lake Trail and Fishing Jimmy Trail, stopping at scenic Lonesome Lake before climbing through classic White Mountain terrain to the summits of both peaks. Weather permitting, we will enjoy views from the summits and stop for a packed lunch before beginning our descent. The hike covers approximately 9.6 miles with over 3,250 feet of elevation gain and is expected to take 6–10 hours, including breaks. Participants should be prepared for steep, rocky sections, uneven footing, and sustained climbing typical of 4,000-foot peaks in the White Mountains. Meeting Time and Place: 7:00 AM at Lafayette Campground Trailhead Physical Fitness Expectations: This is a strenuous hike appropriate for hikers with previous experience hiking 4,000-foot peaks in northern New Hampshire, the White Mountains, or similar mountain environments. Participants should maintain an active fitness level and be comfortable hiking for extended periods on steep, rocky terrain. Recent experience with hikes of similar distance and elevation gain is strongly recommended. If you have concerns about your ability to complete this hike, please contact the leader prior to registering. Gear Requirements: Participants should come prepared with appropriate three-season hiking gear, including sturdy hiking footwear, adequate food and water, extra layers, rain gear, bug spray, and any personal essentials needed for a full day in the mountains. Weather in the White Mountains can change rapidly, and hikers should be prepared for cooler temperatures and windy conditions at higher elevations. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions (high water crossings), excessive crowding, or other safety concerns, the planned destination, route, meeting location, and/or start time may be modified at the discretion of the leaders. Space is limited to 8 participants plus two leaders. Please register early and cancel promptly if you cannot attend so that others may join. A reminder email with more details will be sent to approved participants a week prior to the hike.
