Description: Join us to hike both Twins! We will head up to North Twin (4,760) and South Twin (4,902) for an 11 mile out and back hike with about 3,700 feet of elevation gain. On a clear day, you can see all the way down to Twin Mountain, NH! We will be hiking at a moderate to quick pace.
This is a strenuous hike appropriate for hikers with previous experience hiking 4,000-foot peaks in northern New Hampshire, the White Mountains, or similar mountain environments. Participants should maintain an active fitness level and be comfortable hiking for extended periods on steep, rocky terrain. Recent experience with hikes of similar distance and elevation gain is strongly recommended. If you have concerns about your ability to complete this hike, please contact the leader prior to registering. Gear Requirements: Participants should come prepared with appropriate three-season hiking gear, including sturdy hiking footwear, adequate food and water, extra layers, rain gear, bug spray, and any personal essentials needed for a full day in the mountains. Weather in the White Mountains can change rapidly, and hikers should be prepared for cooler temperatures and windy conditions at higher elevations.
To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions (high water crossings), excessive crowding, or other safety concerns, the planned destination, route, meeting location, and/or start time may be modified at the discretion of the leaders. It is possible we will use August 16th as a rain date.
