Description: Hike of (North) Hancock and South Hancock Saturday July 18.
Join us for a hike of two of the 48 four-thousand foot peaks in the White Mountains of New Hampshire! This is a great hike, a little over 9 miles and 2,600 ft of gain, with several water crossings. The trail becomes quite steep as we approach the summits. Participants should be prepared for this. This hike is rated Vigorous.
We will travel together at a modest pace. AMC book time is about 6 hours. With stops to eat and adjust gear, please expect to be out for 8 hours or longer.
This hike is most suited for people with recent (previous 6 months) hiking experience over NH mountain terrain of similar length and elevation gain.
When registering, please answer the trip registration questions, including details of your recent hiking experience, including approximate dates, distance, elevation gain, and time to complete the hike. Having this information will greatly assist the leaders in ensuring the hike is a good fit for participants. For the recommended gear for this hike see: https://hb.amcboston.org/images/docs/Gear_lists/Spring_Dayhike_gear_list.pdf
Leaders will monitor the weather. Will cancel the hike if the forecast is for steady rain. If conditions are unsafe, for example high water crossings, the leaders will cancel or modify the hike.
